In the Recording Studio

New Visitor Tour

Most days running the brewery are different, but today was a little MORE different than most and for once it didn’t involve much beer.  Today was about recording the audio for the new visitor tour that we plan to launch next season.

We had been planning an audio tour of the Last House for our visitors over the past year or so, but the pesky pandemic kept getting in the way of things.  Finally now though we have been able to move forward with it.  The tour is designed to introduce everyone to a brief glimpse of our local history and to some of the characters that have lived in John O’Groats and particularly the Last House over the past 400 years.  Today we finally recorded it at our local Radio Station.

So, if you are curious about who may have lived in the Last House previously; where John O’Groats gets its name from; how we brew our beer; or even the ‘real’ reason why the sea is salty-  well, get yourself over to the Last House and grab yourself an audio headset.  You’ll be guided through the answers to all these very important questions.

Local Support

Its taken a bit of planning to organise this through the pandemic.  Once again we are indebted to support from others for helping us out.  Thanks go to Caithness FM for providing the facilities to record it in and to our good friends at our local drama group ‘The Thurso Players‘, who put on their very best acting skills to re-create the tales of the past.

It is certainly the first time I have been in the recording studio, so quite exciting to see it action.  Just need to get the edit done and then we are good to go.
