A fine day off

The John O'Groats area coastline

Every now and then, particularly under the current conditions, you need a day away from the office. The weather has been glorious here over the last week or so. There is a real sense of Spring coming. The days are getting longer, the air is heating up, buds are on the trees- so what better than to leave the brewery for a few hours and take a long hike across some of the breathtaking countryside around where we live. Todays adventure took us all round the Dunnett Headland. Its a walk I had my eye on for some time but had always been beaten back either by the weather or the wild vegetation. I realised now is the time to do it, before the bracken grows in and makes the going a little more challenging.

Amazing views along the route of the rugged coastline and one of my favourite beaches – deserted too.

By the end of the trek I got a real sense the world was starting to click back into order. Chatting to a few folk on the way confirmed things are on the turn. Everyone had a smile and an optimistic outlook.

Best of all, getting absolutely guilt free beers at the end to re-hydrate.
